Peter Morris, MBA, BSc (Hons)

Peter Morris is the Chairman of JN Life Insurance Company Limited, a position he has held since 2015. He is also the Chairman of JN Mutual Funds and was appointed Chairman of JN General Insurance Company Limited in April 2019.

He joined the Board of the Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS) in 1993. With the restructuring of JNBS and the launch of JN Bank on February 1, 2017, he was appointed to the Boards of The Jamaica National Group Limited, JN Financial Group Limited and JN Bank Limited.

He also serves on the Board on JN Fund Managers Limited. He is a member of the Finance, Compensation and Proxy Committees of The Jamaica National Group, the Finance Committee of JN Financial Group, and the Finance and Loans Committees of JN Bank.

Mr. Morris has a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from The University of the West Indies and an MBA in Finance from the Columbia University Graduate School of Business. He has more than 25 years of business experience at the management and Board level in Jamaica, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Earl Jarrett was appointed General Manager of the Jamaica National Building Society in October 1999. He joined the Society in 1997 as Executive with responsibility for Compliance and Overseas Subsidiaries. Mr Jarrett was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the restructured mutual holding company, The Jamaica National Group Limited in February 2017.

Earl Jarrett was appointed General Manager of the Jamaica National Building Society in October 1999. He joined the Society in 1997 as Executive with responsibility for Compliance and Overseas Subsidiaries. Mr Jarrett was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the restructured mutual holding company, The Jamaica National Group Limited in February 2017.

He is a Director on the Boards of all local and overseas companies and entities of the JN Group; and serves as Chairman of the Jamaica Automobile Association (Services) Limited and the overseas subsidiary companies of JN Money Services Limited.

A Chartered Accountant and graduate of The University of the West Indies, Mr. Jarrett serves on the boards of several external organisations. He is:

He is former Deputy Chairman of the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) and Jamaica Investments Promotions (JAMPRO); former Council Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Jamaica and past President of the Rotary Club of New Kingston. He has served as a member of the National Task Force on Political Tribalism, and as Honorary Secretary of The Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica (PSOJ).

In 2008, Mr Jarrett received the Order of Distinction, in the rank of Commander (CD), from the Government of Jamaica for service to the financial sector; and the Pelican Award from The University of the West Indies Alumni, Florida Chapter, for outstanding work in business development among the Jamaican Diaspora in the USA.

In 2010, he was recognised by the American Foundation of The University of the West Indies as a 2010 recipient of the Caribbean Luminary Awards; received the Pelican Award from the Jamaican Chapter of The University of the West Indies Alumni, for significant contribution to the development of the University and to Jamaica; and the Doctor of Laws (LL.D) degree, honoris causa, from the University of Technology Jamaica. In 2011, Mr Jarrett received a second Doctor of Laws (LL.D) degree from The University of the West Indies.

He was awarded the Kiwanis Club of New Kingston’s Man of Excellence award and recognised as the Jamaica Institute of Management (JIM)/Gleaner 2011 Manager of the Year in 2012; and subsequently inducted as a JIM Fellow.

Mr Jarrett was appointed a member of the Electoral Commission of Jamaica in 2013; and in 2014, was inducted into the Council of Volunteer Social Services (CVSS) Hall of Fame for his contribution to the community. In 2015, he was recognised as the Gleaner Honour Awardee for exceptional voluntary service in 2014 and was the 2015 inductee for The Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica (PSOJ) Private Sector Hall of Fame.

In 2016, Mr Jarrett was presented with the Visionary Award by the Mavis & Ephraim Hawthorne Golden Krust Foundation (New York) and Distinguished Member Award by The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Jamaica (ICAJ).

He was again recognized by the Government of Jamaica in 2018 with his appointment to the Order of Jamaica (OJ), for his exceptional contribution to the banking and financial sectors, public service and volunteerism. Mr Jarrett was conferred with his third honorary doctorate, the Doctor of Education in Leadership (honoris causa), by The Mico University College in December 2018.

Christopher N. Barnes, JP., MBA, BSc.

Christopher Barnes is Managing Director of the Gleaner Company and joined the JN Life Insurance Board in March 2012. He is the Chairman of Independent Radio Company Limited; The Gleaner Company (USA) Limited; The Gleaner Company (Can) Inc; Gleaner Online; PALS Jamaica and the Media Association of Jamaica.

Christopher Barnes is Managing Director of the Gleaner Company and joined the JN Life Insurance Board in March 2012. He is the Chairman of Independent Radio Company Limited; The Gleaner Company (USA) Limited; The Gleaner Company (Can) Inc; Gleaner Online; PALS Jamaica and the Media Association of Jamaica. He also serves on the boards of the Caribbean News Agency, Caribbean Media Corporation, Inter-American Press Association, The Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica, Pan Jamaican Investment Trust, A-Plus Learning Limited and Ocho Rios Beach Limited. Prior to joining the Gleaner, he spent 10 years with Montreal-based Alcan Inc. (now Rio Tinto Alcan) in various international roles, including his last as Director, Strategic Initiatives for Alcan’s Global Pharmaceutical Packaging Group. Mr. Barnes is a Justice of the Peace.

Kay Osborne, MBA, BSc.

Kay Osborne is the President and CEO of Kay Osborne Associates Ltd, a management and communication consulting company, formed in May 2012. Miss Osborne, who joined the JN Life Insurance Board in 2012, graduated summa cum laude with a communication degree from Northwestern University, Illinois, USA and earned an MBA in International Business from the Mona School of Business, UWI. She also holds marketing and project management certifications.

Kay Osborne is the President and CEO of Kay Osborne Associates Ltd, a management and communication consulting company, formed in May 2012. Miss Osborne, who joined the JN Life Insurance Board in 2012, graduated summa cum laude with a communication degree from Northwestern University, Illinois, USA and earned an MBA in International Business from the Mona School of Business, UWI. She also holds marketing and project management certifications.

Miss Osborne is an accomplished senior executive with more than 30 years of diverse leadership experience with Fortune 500 and emerging growth companies in the USA and with Television Jamaica (TVJ), where she led its transformation to become Jamaica’s leading television station. She also led the TVJ team that developed an online strategy, including an interactive website that attracts approximately two million visitors each month. During her time in the USA, Ebony magazine named Ms. Osborne among Corporate America’s top 100 black women, and she received the Pillsbury Award for Excellence for women in international business in Corporate America.

She voluntarily led a team that developed a programme to reduce recidivism among incarcerated women in the USA’s largest prisonsystem, where most inmates are African American.

Lance Henry, JP

Lancelot Henry was appointed as a Director on the JN Life Insurance board in 2022. He is Lead Consultant of Eagle Business Advisors and Managing Consultant of PKF Consultants Jamaica, a consulting operation for an international auditing, accounting and advisory network.

Prior to joining the JN Life board, Mr. Henry served as a consultant for several major Jamaican organisations.

His career began in education as a teacher at Knox College before joining publisher, Longman. In 1990, he ventured into insurance with Life of Jamaica (now Sagicor Life) as an Insurance Sales Representative. During that time, he achieved membership of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) in each of his four years in the field, once attaining Court of the Table designation. Later, he had stints with Prime Life Assurance Company, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Caribbean and Jamaica Money Market Brokers.

Mr. Henry holds a first degree in Pure Mathematics / Pure Physics from The University of the West Indies (UWI), and a Masters in Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University. He is currently pursuing Doctoral Studies at the Mona School of Business and Management, UWI. His research is in Sustainable Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Entrepreneurial Performance, particularly as it pertains to SMEs in Developing Countries.

He is also a Chartered Life Underwriter and has certification in the Agency Manager’s Training Course (AMTC).

Mr. Henry is a Justice of the Peace and has served on the executive of the Lay Magistrates Association of Jamaica – Kingston Chapter. He has also served as President of the Jamaica Chapter of the Caribbean Institute of Management Consultants (CIMC).

Managing Director, JN Financial Group

Curtis Martin

Curtis Martin assumed the position of Managing Director of the JN Financial Group in July 2022, with responsibility to lead the JN Financial Group companies, which offer banking, insurance, investment and remittance services.

Curtis Martin assumed the position of Managing Director of the JN Financial Group in July 2022, with responsibility to lead the JN Financial Group companies, which offer banking, insurance, investment and remittance services. He also assumed the role of Chief Investment Officer of The Jamaica National Group and will have oversight of the Group’s treasury and investment functions.

Mr Martin was appointed Chief Financial Officer of The Jamaica National Group in February 2017 and assumed the post of Managing Director, JN Bank, in December 2017. Joining the Jamaica National Building Society in 2013 as Assistant General Manager, Treasury and Investments, Mr Martin possesses extensive experience in banking, corporate finance, treasury and investment management at several leading financial institutions in the private and public sectors for the past three decades.

As Chairman of the Jamaica Stock Exchange & Jamaica Central Securities Depository (2006-2011), he led the diversification of the organisation’s revenue stream through the development and launch of the Junior Stock Market, JSE Trustee Services and the JSE E-Learning Institute.

Mr Martin holds the BSc, Management Studies from The University of the West Indies (UWI), the MBA, Finance from Columbia University, New York and is at Level 2 Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Accreditation.

He is a Director of the Jamaica Central Security Depository Ltd; a JCSD Trustee Services Member; and a Member of the Kingston College Old Boys’ Association.

Hilary Phillips

The Hon Miss Justice Hilary Phillips, CD, JA (ret’d) was admitted to practice in 1974.

She practised as an attorney-at-law from then; her areas of practice included Civil Litigation involving complex Commercial Transactions, Banking and Finance, Insurance, Building Construction Claims, Real Estate, Arbitration (local and international) as well as Intellectual Property and Industrial Relations.

The Hon Miss Justice Hilary Phillips, CD, JA (ret’d) was admitted to practice in 1974.

She practised as an attorney-at-law from then; her areas of practice included Civil Litigation involving complex Commercial Transactions, Banking and Finance, Insurance, Building Construction Claims, Real Estate, Arbitration (local and international) as well as Intellectual Property and Industrial Relations. She was a member of the law firm of Grant, Stewart, Phillips & Co, where she was the senior litigation partner. She was elevated to the rank of Kings Counsel in April 1998. After 35 years practicing as an attorney -at-law, she was appointed a Judge of Appeal on 3 August 2009. In 2013 she was awarded the Order of Distinction in the Rank of Commander for distinguished and dedicated service to the Legal Profession and the Judiciary. She retired as a Judge of Appeal in May 2021.

Whilst a member of the Bar, Miss Phillips served on several Boards, was President of the Jamaica Bar Association, Vice President of the Organisation of Commonwealth Caribbean Associations and was a member of the General Legal Council and its Disciplinary Committee.

She has served as an Associate Tutor at the Norman Manley Law School for 30 years commencing in January 1994 during which time she taught Civil Practice and Procedure I, Advocacy, and Civil Practice and Procedure II.

Miss Phillips JA (ret’d) currently serves as the Chairperson of the Judicial Service Commission of the Turks and Caicos Islands, and a member of the Regional Judicial and Legal Service Commission of the Caribbean Court of Justice.

Miss Phillips joined the Jamaica National Group of companies in 2022 as Chairman of the Policy Advisory Commission. In 2023, she was appointed a Director of JN life and also the Chairman of the Conduct Review Committee of the Group.
